    • Gastric Sleeve
      Gastric Sleeve

      Gastric Sleeve

Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG), or the gastric sleeve, is the most common surgical intervention for obesity. The procedure reduces the size of the stomach in order to minimize hunger and encourage portion control for the patient, as they will need less food to satisfy their hunger. As with gastric bypass surgery, many patients loose about 80% of excess body weight within the first year after surgery. Gastric sleeve surgery, however, is less invasive and thus has a quicker healing time and a lower risk for complications.

    • Gastric Bypass
      Gastric Bypass

      Gastric Bypass

Roux-en-Y (RNY), more commonly known as gastric bypass surgery, sections off the stomach and reroutes a small pouch to the small intestines in order to reduce calorie absorption. The procedure has a high success rate, with most patients losing about 80% of their excess weight within the first year following surgery. This surgery is ideal for patients who have a BMI of 35 or higher, or who suffer from other health issues caused by a higher weight, such as acid reflux.

    • Mini Gastric Bypass
      Mini Gastric Bypass

      Mini Gastric Bypass

A mini gastric sleeve is a less complex than a full gastric bypass. It simplifies the procedure by dividing the stomach using a laparoscopic stapler. This reduces its capacity and bypasses two to seven feet of intestine, helping to control hunger. In general, patients can lose about 80% of excess weight in the first year following their surgery.

    • Revision Surgery
      Revision Surgery

      Revision Surgery

A patient may seek bariatric revision surgery if they experience medical complications or when their previous surgery has not resulted in their desired outcome. Though revision surgery has a high weight loss success rate, it is more complex and comes with more risks than initial bariatric surgeries. Revision surgery requires expert care from and experienced surgeon. At TreVita, we can help you determine what type of bariatric revision will be right based on your pervious surgery and your healthcare history.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Know Before You Go
    • Do you ever have trouble crossing the border?

Thankfully, no! The facilities we work with are issued a special medical tourism pass to ensure a hassle-free border crossing. Our private medical transport van will easily and safely drive you across the border both to and from Tijuana.

    • I've never traveled to Mexico. Is it safe?

We believe so! While Mexico faces a variety of challenges like any other developing nation, the country is unique in its proximity and familiarity with Americans and American customs and has benefitted greatly from decades of favorable trade. The result is a generally friendly and welcoming neighbor to the South with a massive infrastructure for providing lower priced medical procedures specifically to Americans. We believe the service and quality of care meet or exceed those found in the U.S., with customer service and overall experience often far exceeding U.S. standards.

    • How do I communicate with the doctors? I don't speak Spanish.

All of our client coordinators and surgeons speak English and there is always a fluent English-speaking staff member on the floor at all times (even after hours). People often forget how close Tijuana is to the U.S. and how intertwined the two communities and economies are. The result is a local population with many proficient English speakers. Between our dedicated English-speaking staff and others at the hospital, you’ll always find yourself with someone thoughtful to speak to.

    • Can I bring someone with me?

Yes! All rooms are equipped with a sleeper sofa to accommodate a guest throughout your stay. Your client coordinator will let him or her know of the local resources available and make sure to introduce them to all staff members should you need anything. Please keep in mind that your companion can stay for free, but their meals are not included.
